Church hurt?? I've been there, and you most likely have too if you have been in church before! The church is full of broken people like you and me, who often don't act like Jesus. God didn't do it to you. Sinful, broken man did it. We may have even been the cause of someone being church hurt. However, God isn't done with the church- He still chooses to use sinful, broken men to spread the gospel. What a great privilege we have as the church.
I'm part of the church, and hopefully, I along with others in the church are becoming more like Jesus. We often walk three steps forward then only to find ourselves moving two steps back. The flesh kicks in and "poof", we instantly don't look anything like Christ. He is still in the process of transforming us. Cracked vessels leak, and often we mess it up, but none the less we still carry life-giving water in our mortal bodies. Second Corinthians 4:7-10 tells us,
"But we have this treasure in earthen containers so that the extraordinary greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying around in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body."
So if you have been church hurt, it might be time to recalibrate your focus. Fix your eyes on Christ. Don't let "church hurt " dominate and defeat your attitude and willingness to follow Christ without reservation. I have been there, its totally worth it to forgive and let go of it. Don't give up on the church, God hasn't. Give that same grace and forgiveness that Christ gave to you so "that Jesus may be revealed in our body." Go and share the hope that is in you!!
